Interview with Victor Alfonso Lenta by Andrei Volkov 2014-12-17
Andrei – First of all I would like to thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions, I can imagine you have a busy schedule so i will keep this interview short.
The situation in Novorossiya has for the past year been noticed abroad, I for one have been following the eastern european news broadcasts since Euromaidan in the end of 2013. Among pro-russian, anti-maidan and pro-novorossiyan supporters you have been known as a front figure for the international resistance and european freedom fighting. Would you care to introduce yourself?
Lenta – My name is Victor Alfonso Lenta, I am a French citizen with Columbian roots. I am 26 years old and I am one of the two commandants of the internationnal brigade in Novorossiya.
Andrei – What kind of life did you live in France before joining our comrades in Novorossiya and also what made you go in the first place?
Lenta – Before war in Novorossiya I was known in France as a political activist in the nationalist movement. Then I have created , in january 2014, with Nikola Perovic the geopolitical organisation ”UNITE CONTINENTALE”. We came to Donbass to protect civilians people from this imperialist agression.
Andrei – Do you have any prior military experience?
Lenta – I served 5 years in the French army as a paratrooper. I have been send in Afganistan, Cote d’Ivoire and Tchad. I take part either in combat mission or as an instructor.
Andrei – Do you speak Russian and if not how do you communicate with your Russian speaking comrades?
Lenta – I do not speak at all russian, but I am here with Nikola Perovic since the beginning, who has serbian roots and speak fluently serb, since a month and an half we have a new volunteer who is a russian born in france, he is now our soldier/translator.
Andrei – Our organisation (Operation Novorossiya, Solidarity: Donbass) view the question of Novorossiya as something that is beyond the traditional ”right and left”-politics, something that could unite people despite different political and religious belief. What is your view on this? And what discussions, if any, have you had with the soldiers you serve with?
Lenta – As you said, war in Novorossiya has united different people and different organisations who would have fight each other in the past or in another place. War in Novorossiya is beyond political ideology and religious beliefs, here we are all together united against a common enemy : american imperialism and his armed wing NATO. Every single man in UNITE CONTINENTALE is aware about this.
Andrei – In Sweden there has been a lot of discussions about the war in Ukraine but little has been said about the suffering of the civilian populus in Novorossiya. Instead focus has been on Putin and what has been written sometimes border to outright warmongering propaganda against Russia. Sweden is also moving towards a membership in NATO.
Do you have anything to say to the Swedish people, about the situation for the civilian population (in past or present) as a result of the Ukrainian attacks on Donetsk or Lugansk?
Lenta – Our enemy, NATO use occidental mass media to introduce russophobic sentiment to europeen people to prepare them to war against Russia. This phenomen, demonization in mass media we observe today is the repetition of what happend before wars in Yougoslavia, Irak, Libya, Syria etc. Population is the first victim of this conflict, ukrainian artillery is targeting civilians infrastructures, school, creches, hospitals, homes and even kids playground… The goal of this strategy of terror is to made the people run away, so Kiev’s oligarch will have free hands to grab the wealth of Donbass.
Andrei – Lastly, thank you so much for taking your well earned spare time and answering these questions.
Lenta – Thank you.
/Andrei Volkov, Operation Novorossiya, Sweden.
